Do you LOVE quilts?
I love quilts too, but I am not fantastic at free motion quilting, and it is really hard to achieve the kinds of results I dream about, particularly Trapunto effects, which I adore. Quilts get put aside for YEARS while I procrastinate over the next step.
The quilts can be BIG, difficult to move around and, for years, I couldn’t do more than very basic quilting… grids, ditch quilting and maybe some echo quilting.
I was doing some sewing teaching at the time (around 2003) and had worked out a way to make Applique Designs into Trapunto designs. Then I started to digitise my own quilting and trapunto designs!
What Can You Expect from the Designs?
Speed
The Designs stitch out quickly, usually in less than ten minutes, often in much less than ten minutes and you can choose to make your item as big or small as you wish. Just add more squares.
Accuracy
As long as you choose one size from your download, all your squares will match perfectly and stitch together easily. Some designs go together, others are completely individual but they all fit together!
Easy Construction
After stitching and cutting out your squares are ready to be made into a quilt. Butt the squares together, zigzag over the joins and then cover them as you see fit… I have plenty of items for inspiration.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Sizes are the Designs available in?
They stitch out at 14cm, 17cm, 20cm, 23cm and 28cm. Unfortunately, they are not compatible with hoops that require split designs.
What Formats are the Designs available in?
The Designs are in EXP, HUS, JEF, PES, VP3 and XXX. If you are looking for a different format, please let me know!
Do these designs work for the Janome CM17?
They work beautifully in the CM17, in fact I enlarged them so they fill the largest square hoop of that machine, when it came out! It means they will make a quilt so much quicker.
What can you make out of the squares?
LOTS! Quilts, bags, machine covers, placemats just about anything you can think of. I even made myself a vest. That is part of the fun of them.

What does “Trapunto” mean?
Trapunto is extra wadding inside parts of a design to make it puff out more. Check out the “100 Design Set” in the Designs tab at the top of the page. Designs 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are the first trapunto designs in the set.
